SET-IT Startup____________________________________________________________________________

The community to which I belong ,and was born and brought up was predominantly into business. Trading to be specific. Entrepreneur drive according to me is something inherent. A trait that is passed on through generations. It comes from within to realize your own potential and I realized very early in my life - the drive about being and becoming an entrepreneur.

Sooner than expected, I found myself managing an offshoot of a construction company who wanted to set up an IT wing as services arm. I was one of the three members involved in setting up the wing in Malaysia.

To start something of my own is where my inherent strength lies. – Providing Solution was my drive since long. And I chose to bridge business with technology by starting a company C-Design system in Bangalore, the Silicon Valley of India, catering solutions of how to wisely invest in technology and get the best returns.

C-Design concentrated on solutions for mid-sized manufacturing companies. Also developed a product “prospect management system” to tap the local market which soon made way for global market.

Soon after this, another venture. Another Start-up. Again incubated a start-up by joining Questech as their 1st senior member in the delivery side and being instrumental for the growth of the organization by actively participating in conceptualization of the product, relationship management, incubation of frameworks and directly responsible for the engagement to all the stakeholders for the success of the initiatives.

That’s where I got introduced to angel investors and venture capital funders for evaluation. This was the season when my personal profile was screened on a popular technology channel in their news hour under the section “Rising Star”.

Once you get what you want, interest excites and dies hard. And then came the opportunity to develop internal application division for Digital Globalsoft (now merged with Hewlett Packard) to cater to all the automation for the highly growing and scaling organization. I became the owner of enterprise class to conceptualize, build and integrate systems catering to HR Systems. The portfolio was further enhanced by becoming the liaison for many powerful departments like sales to automate the Sales Force Activities and System Security Department to build their portal branded ‘Defense Against Real Threat (DART) to ensure the best return on investment and increase the effectiveness of the organization.

And next on the list but certainly not the least, I started Karna India, an entity for an American company specialized in enterprise information management, enterprise portals and business intelligence solution provider - I set up their offshore development center by playing a key role of not only building technically strong delivery team but also pitched in a conscious effort on process to ensure predictability and repeatability. Instituted the school of thought on ‘first time innovation, second time process’ to build an excellence pursuant work culture. As time went by I helped consolidate the company’s position in leveraging the rising waves of offshore by playing the pivotal role of off-shoring global engagements.

There is still a lot of entrepreneurial drive. Realizing the kind of energy not everyone possess as the pre-requisite for entrepreneurs and the aspect of risk taking. And finally now it has culminated in Compassites, with me leading from the front.
